How
Muu Muu Coffee was found |
Hi,
my name is Yas, founder of Muu Muu Coffee.
.
Here
is the story of how Muu Muu Coffee began. It all started
from a cup of Kona coffee I had at my friend's
coffe farm back in 1995....
.
It
was fall
of 1995, my dear friend for over 10 years, who lived in Hawaii passed
away. Belonging to the hippie generation, he was one of those
Japanese who had landed in Hawaii after having traveled the whole world.
I flew to Kona, on the Island of Hawaii to attend his funeral service, where I saw familiar local people who were also there to bid farewell. Among them I found David who looked even more tanned and robust than ever before. He told me that he was working at a coffee farm, invited me to visit the farm, and there I was the following day.

I
passed through the coffee trees filled with bright red cherries.
I then proceeded into the woods of papaya to come across a venerable
cottage built with discarded materials from boats - his house. The
entire area was still and silent, and covered with a dense, humid
air. As I saw the sun setting into the distant sea, only sound that
can be heard was singing of birds and the sound of my footsteps.
David served me an amazing cup of genuine
Kona coffee at his old house. This was the beginning and a first step
to our Muu Muu COFFEE. I started my coffee business by renting a house
near Napoopoo Road that leads to Kealakekua Bay. With the help of warm
people and a good fortune, the venture got off to a very good start.
One
day I drove over a rough road running in the midst of coffee trees seeking
a coffee farm. I continued driving for about twenty minutes, but no
sight of what I was looking for. I thought I took a wrong turn because
the road got rougher and rougher further on. I then saw a hippie-like
Caucasian working on the “Hoshidana” a coffee bean drying rack at
a distant farm house. I approached this mythical immortal looking man
with a beard and a long hair bound at the back, for directions. He told
me that the farm I was searching for was no where near here, and still
had further ways to go.
With
a laugh, he invited me into his house, and served me a cup of "paradise" coffee. His name was Terry Fitzgerald. Our fortuitous meeting made him the first contract supplier to Muu Muu COFFEE. In 1997, a year later, the coffee beans produced by Terry at his farm called "Da'kine",
won the first place in the Kona Coffee Cupping Competition.
.
It all started with
a cup of coffee.
We now serve Kona Coffee to many customers and Partner Shops
throughout Japan. With a warm support of Kona Coffee connoisseur and Kona
Coffee Farms, entire staff at Muu Muu Coffee would like to continue serving
the a great cup of Genuine Kona Coffee to each and every customer.
